Children start to learn about the world around them from the moment they are born. Our staff help the children to continue learning by providing them with interesting activities, appropriate for their age and stage of development. The early years foundation is organized into the following six sections of learning:
Learning is carefully planned and structured with an emphasis on fun activities relevant and motivating for each child. Key WorkersOur Key Worker system gives each member of staff particular responsibility for a small group of children. The Key Person will work closely with their group of children to observe and record the childrens' learning and development through written observation and photographs. These observations are transferred to a Learning Journey document. Key Workers also maintain links with the leaders, deputy and other staff members and record keeping is shared with parents to ensure that all children are supported in reaching their full potential. Learning Journey PortfolioEvery child has a Learning Journey Portfolio; this is a valuable resource for monitoring each child's progress across all areas of learning and development. It highlights opportunities to develop their learning, extend and move each child into the next stage of play. These recommendations are incorporated into the Preschools weekly plans. Parents are encouraged to provide information for their child's Learning Journey Portfolio. This information could be anything from learning a new skill, naming a new colour, spending the day with Grandparents or special moments and events in their lives. Learning Journey Portfolios are available for parents to look at following each session and parents are encouraged to take them home. Our Ofsted ReportClick here to see our Ofsted report. |
